The inevitable sinking of the Titanic.

I once heard that a woman who passed away expressed in her will that she desired to have all her wealth be given to the US government with the sole purpose of paying down the national debt. She was concerned about our growing debts. She thought that by doing this she would be leaving a better world for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. I find this rather amusing and perhaps a little facetious because frankly her 1.5 million dollars would do little to address the interest let alone the principle......its like trying to pee in the ocean to raise the shoreline.

How can any SANE person actually believe that our economy and nation are doing ok..........they would have to be an economist or a madman. People think money can save them and if not paper currency, then gold or silver. Most economist believe that exponential growth can go on forever in finite world. I suppose they believe this because they do not believe that this world and EVERYTHING in it is so finite, fleeting. And yet the truth is, it is incredibly finite, certainly from Gods perspective. Yes, it appears for moment and poof, it vanishes away, much like our lives. Such brevity. It reminds me of the movie Titanic (the newer James Cameron version) when Roses so-called rich fiance demands that one life boat be saved for him while he hands the guard a large bundle of cash. The guard throws the bundle of cash back at that rich creep (because of his haughty attitude towards those not in his class) and says to him.......your money can no more save you than it can me. It is amazing that suddenly money no longer matters when you are knocking at deaths door.

And we know that on that fateful night over 13 hundred souls perished in the icy waters. Many of whom had a heart full of dreams for the new world. And many of whom also did not think much that their lives would be abruptly cut short by a gigantic iceberg. Do you think any of them prepared their souls for death. Do you think any of them even thought about death and perhaps thought that maybe, just maybe this journey on the Titanic would be their last.

I truly wonder how many of those people who perished gave any thought to their souls and their Eternal destiny. I wonder how many people today spend any time thinking about their souls than they do thinking about the mighty greenback and their vaults of gold and silver bars stacked to the ceilings. As in the Titanic, people come and go and not much more thought is given to their bodies that perished and where their souls went. Just like in this world, people rush and grab as much as they can like a stampede, plowing over people in an intense effort to hoard as much wealth because that is their security. Yet funny because in one split second, it can all be lost! So fleeting!

What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul. America IS the Titanic and yet so many are in denial. Mans largest proclivity is denial. Remember in the movie in the beginning that rich creep said that the TItanic is so glorious that even God Himself could not sink the boat. Remember that. And what happened.......the boat sank anyway because of mans arrogance, stupidity and pride.....right up there in neon lights! That is in essence what many today think about America. They think America is so great that nothing will sink us. Just like in the movie, the man whose company designed the ship, tells the ship captain to steam roll ahead because he wants to make neon lights.........front page of the NY and London papers that the glorious and mighty Titanic made it to NY one day ahead of schedule. Never mind the obvious dangers of gigantic icebergs in the water. This man wanted everyone to know he had big balls! Had that ship not been steam rolling ahead because of the decision of one jerk who lacked certain humility, they could have diverted the ship just enough to prevent it from hitting the iceberg thus saving all those lives. And this is the way it is in so many situations in our lives. One arrogant decision at the top effects everyone below. And when those rich people assume they are the better half as in the movie, then obviously their decisions will be totally and completely self centered. Do you think that any of those arrogant rich people will be counting their money in Hell.

We can conclude that good judgment and common sense leave peoples minds when they are consumed with arrogance and
pride.

^For the preaching of the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise. Where is the disputer of this world. Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world. For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom: but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men: and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

For ye see your calling brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise: and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that NO flesh shall glory in His presence............I Corinthians 1:18-29^

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them...........II Corinthians 4:4
